1. Under running water. Hold the crystal under running water and ensure it is completely covered and run the water over it for at least one minute.

• This method is good for crystals that are hard, such as pink quartz. It is not good for soft stones like selenite.

2. Salt water. Mix one or two tablespoons of salt into a bowl. Leave it there for a few hours. Remove, rinse and dry.

• Do not use on soft, porous or stones that contain metal.

3. The Sun & the Moon – Natural light is one of my favorite ways to clean and charge my stones. Set out your stones before bed and bring them in before the heat of the day, so the more sensitive stones like amethyst, don’t loose any color. Make sure there won’t be weather that may affect your stones.

4. Smudging – my go to for all my larger specimens. When I can’t move a crystal and place it under running water or carry it outside, I wipe it down to remove any dust and smudge it with sage. I usually allow the smoke to envelope the stone for 30 to 60 seconds.

• This method is safe to use on ALL stones.

5. Sound healing – pull out your tuning fork, sound bowls, bell or turn on your TV and find a YouTube video with Tibetan Sound Healing music, classical music (Beethoven’s 5th, the OM mantra…)

• This method is safe to use on ALL stones.

6. I also like to use my large clear Quartz cluster as a “cleaner.” I will first wipe the large stone down and smudge it. Then I will place my smaller stones on it and leave them there for the rest of the day. I like to do this a lot with my stone jewelry. I will lay my necklaces and bracelets all over the Quartz and collect them all at the end of the day.

• This method is safe to use for ALL stones.

So, how often should you do this? The answer is, it depends. If you use a crystal on a daily basis, then I would suggest doing this every few days or at least once a week. I don’t always remember to do it, so I aim for every Full Moon (30 days).

How will I know if my crystal is clean? Mine honestly feel lighter to the touch after I do this. Trust your instinct.
