So, how do you calculate your home’s number? Add up all the numbers, for example: this picture shows the address numbers are 188. 1 + 8 + 8 = 17. Then add those numbers up until you end up with one number. 1 + 7 = 8. 8 is your house number.
When we were looking for our home here in Sedona, I made sure to add up the house numbers of every property we looked at.
We ended up purchasing a home with numbers that add up to an 8.
Our home in Tampa added up to a 5, which is a good number, but it is a number of change. Once I knew that I understood our life a bit better. Things rarely felt stable. As an entrepreneur, my husband’s job was always in a state of change. My health also would constantly go from great to not so great…
During my Feng Shui training, I learned I could energetically change my house number. I decided to try it. I ordered new address plaques and wrote in a 3 (on the back of course, so as not to confuse the mailman) with the intention of bringing more prosperity and stability to our home, so that the total went from a 5 to an 8. Things calmed down. It worked.
So, what do each of the numbers mean in Feng Shui?
1. New beginnings
2. Balance – Yin & Yang
3. Family
4. Stability
5. Change
6. Service, calm
7. Solitude, spiritual
8. Prosperity, abundance
9. Accomplishment
A quick note, in East Asian countries, the word for the number 4 sounds like the word for death, so it is not a number they consider auspicious. Remember, you can always change it energetically if you feel the need to do so.
