Fresh vegetables at the Market in Budapest

Again, from a Feng Shui point of view, what is closest to us, affects us the most. The quality of the food we eat is inextricably linked to the quality of our health and well being. It really is that simple. We get out of our bodies what we put in them.

I changed the way I looked at food at the age of 40. I had always been pretty lucky weight wise and could get away with eating things like Eggos and drinking a Diet Coke for breakfast. One day, I had a minor accident where I passed out from pain and landed on the bathroom floor with my face. I broke my nose and had loose teeth. I couldn’t eat solid food for several days, so I started juicing.

After 5 days, I not only felt better, but also lost a few pounds. This led me to start to question what I ate. I started reading labels and seeing what was really in the foods I was eating and cooking for my family.

The more I learned, the more I knew I had to change what we ate to help us maintain optimal health in the long run. At the beginning, my husband and I went raw vegan. I can honestly say, it was the best I ever felt or looked, but it was too hard for us to maintain. After about a year and a half, we slowly added high quality animal protein back into our diet.

The big changes included getting rid of all processed food, switching pantry items to their organic counterparts and buying only high quality organic fruits, vegetables and meats. Slowly, but surely, our changes became habits we have been able to maintain for the past 13 years.

As with all the other resets I have invited you to consider, you can take this one slowly. If you have been eating a certain way for a long time, this may seem overwhelming. It took us a good month to really embrace it. There are a ton of recipes online. Start small. Make one change a day.

A few quick & easy resets to get you started:

Squeeze the juice of 1/2 a lemon into a glass of warm water first thing in the morning. It helps your metabolism get going.

Switch your coffee to an organic brand. Switch your creamer and sweetener to stevia and organic almond or coconut milk (my favorite ).
